SOFID starts strategic partnership with CAF

CAF - banco de desenvolvimento da América Latina

CAF – Latin America development bank - is the new shareholder of SOFID (Sociedade para o Financiamento do Desenvolvimento) and becomes the first foreign financial institution to participate in the capital of the Portuguese development bank, majority owned by the state.

This operation - which took place under the first capital increase in the history of SOFID (founded in 2007) - involves the entrance of the Latin American multilateral bank (created in 1970) in the equity of the Portuguese bilateral development bank that supports the private sector in emerging and developing countries and will strategically allow the strengthening of SOFID’s instruments to support projects in that region of the globe.

Currently SOFID already supports investment projects in Mexico and Brazil, but has in its pipeline projects in other Latin American countries, including Colombia and Peru.
