Raising the precision engineering sector requirements in Mexico

Ricardo & Barbosa S.A. is a company under Mexican law, whose creation in 2009, results from Ricardo & Barbosa, Lda’s internationalization process development, a Portuguese company based in Gondomar, dedicated for over 30 years to the manufacture of mechanical precision parts in Portugal.

Ricardo & Barbosa, S.A. has installed a factory in Juarez, which is the city with the largest automotive wiring factory concentration. The invest was aimed at producing mechanical parts and precision tools directed to the Mexican market, in close liaison with some of its main customers, among which are some of the sector’s most important multinationals.

The project involved a total investment amounting up to EUR 2.5 million primarily destined to the acquisition of industrial and transportation equipment, having SOFID played a part through a loan up to EUR 0.9 million.

The project has had a positive impact on the Mexican’s trade balance, contributing to the broadening of the mechanical precision parts supply in the country and, also, allowing the creation of 18 jobs with a highly specialized training component.
