Fostering the domestic poultry production

HIGEST Mozambique is a Portuguese-owned company for over 15 years in the Mozambican market, where it operates on the agribusiness and poultry sectors, which is currently in strong expansion.

HIGEST was the first entity receiving support from SOFID that, in partnership with a local bank (Banco Internacional de Moçambique – BIM, majority owned by Millenium BCP), provided a guarantee of up to EUR 500 k, for the financing of a ration production and chicken breeding and slaughtering integrated project.

With this project, the company sharpens its strategy focus for the production of chicken meat, contributing to the increase of Mozambique’s population basic food needs coverage through national production. The project also contributed for local employment directly hiring about 100 new workers and indirectly by involving small local producers, since the chickens are supplied by them on a contract based deal.
